THE BRIDE
Written by the Mother of the Bride
Leah was born in Dallas on January 4, 1989. She came charging onto the scene just 19 months after her brother, Devin. Born with unusually dark, thick hair, it wasn’t until age 1 ½ that she turned into a blond haired, blue-eyed babe.
Always animated and dramatic, Leah loved to play dress up. As I recently compiled pictures of our family, I realized I had enough photos of Leah in costume to fill a scrapbook! Here’s one that really says it all…

Leah was quite the athlete growing up. She tried soccer, softball, swim team, and basketball, before she found her true love of volleyball. With height as a strong asset, she blocked and spiked from middle school through graduation. She played varsity at Plano East Senior High and competitive club ball for Summit and Skyline. Many days were filled with tournaments and team travel.

Leah has always had a heart to please God. She accepted Christ as a young child. She loved children’s church, youth camps, and vacation Bible schools. Our best decision was to join Grace Outreach Center as our children approached the critical teen years. Leah received awesome instruction and learned to serve by performing with the drama team and the youth leadership team. Her mission’s trip to Peru exposed her to God’s miracles and many people in need of Christ. God hand-selected a wonderful boy from that same youth group to catch up with Leah later and ask to take her hand in marriage.

Leah made her Dad very proud when she chose to attend his alma mater, Texas Tech. She surrounded herself with Christian students in Foundations Camp and Raider Sisters for Christ. Our Dean’s List daughter shows real promise in her intended field of public relations. I know her strong people skills will be an asset in her future career and she will make a great Army officer’s wife.
